Conventional dryers recirculate bacteria-laden air and deposit germs on your hands. The Dyson Airblade doesn't; its built-in HEPA filter removes 99.9% of bacteria and other contaminants from the air. The Airblade uses a highly efficient motor to force a rapid blade of air through an aperture the width of an eyelash. When you insert your hands into the opening, the dryer is activated by an infrared sensor, and a high-velocity column of clean air dries hands in 12 seconds. No heating is involved, and no need to rub your hands together: it's quiet, economical, hygienic, and doesn't deplete skin of its natural oils. The Airblade uses up to 80% less energy than conventional hand dryers at a cost of about $26/year to run: 98% less than paper towels. It's the first and only hand dryer to be certified by the National Sanitation Foundation under Protocol 335, which requires air filtration, hands-free operation, and a drying time of <15 seconds using warm air.
