As "organic" gets thrown around in more marketing pitches, exactly why it's so important starts to get lost. Here's our answer: First, the ecological benefits are nothing to sneeze at. Conventional crops are pounded with chemicals that run off into lakes and streams that supply our drinking water, and damage marine ecosystems too. Some pesticides even linger in fabric. Since children's small bodies are more sensitive to exposure than adults', they're most vulnerable. Organic cotton-grown and processed without pesticides and herbicides-can provide peace of mind.
