About Us

Founded in 2005 by Sarah Beatty, Green Depot’s mission is to make green building products and services readily accessible, so that green building can be easily adopted into standard construction operations. Our goal is to help establish sustainable building as cost competitive, and provide products of the highest quality that are certified green, and guaranteed through our proprietary chain of custody.

In early 2006, Carmen Arguelles came on board as President of Green Depot, bringing with her 20 years of experience in the construction and building supply sectors. With a strong position in the commercial construction sector, Green Depot joined forces with green building pioneer Environmental Construction Outfitters of New York (ECO) in October 2006, which helped to strengthen the company’s position in the residential building community. Founded in 1991 by toxicity expert Paul Novack, ECO was created to provide products to people with health issues and chemical sensitivities, and carried a full range of hypo-allergenic, natural, sustainable and recycled home products.

As Green Depot’s resident green product expert, Paul Novack is frequently referenced in articles on green building, and is constantly sought out for educational workshops and speaking engagements.

With the acquisition of ECO, Green Depot has now truly evolved into the #1 source for environmentally friendly building supplies, offering:

  • A broad range of superior quality, sustainable product lines, including: ceilings, walls, flooring, insulation, janitorial, soundproofing, paint, lawn & garden, lighting & electrical

  • 15 locations/distribution hubs that service the eastern seaboard of the U.S., from Maine to Virginia

  • A sophisticated distribution infrastructure and proprietary inventory technology system which manages high-volume, spec-driven and critical path supply requirements like no other “environmental” building supplier

  • Service 24 hours-a-day, 7 days-a-week, with the most knowledgeable “green” staff

  • The “GD 360 Network” service solution, which connects our customers to Green Depot-approved experts in the fields of solar energy, environmental testing, LEED, renewable/recyclables, HVAC, and more

  • The Green Depot Advisory Council – a constantly expanding network of “experts” in a range of fields, including environmentalists, manufacturers, educators, real estate developers, health professionals, and more – who ensure that Green Depot stays on the cutting edge of the latest advances in green building
